Since I want to research around how UI/UX can be used to deliver anxiety treatments, I need someone who focuses on anxiety and its treatment(s), and ideally someone who's currently doing research or practice in that area so they're abreast of developments in that field. So far I've contacted:
*Dr. David Shanley, who specializes in anxiety treatment;
Growing Self, which says all its therapists specialize in anxiety;
*Dr. Robert Davies, who is a professor at Anschutz focusing on anxiety and unconventional treatments for it;
*Dr. Susan Lurie, who is also an Anschutz faculty member specializing in anxiety treatment and research (although she may be more focused on children);
*Janice Shire, also Anschutz faculty and interested in the treatment of anxiety disorders.
*emailed, awaiting response
Additional resources:
-the campus counseling center, of course..
-Dr. Kate Goodman, who's one of the professors at Inworks, has a neurology degree and does a lot with interdisciplinary work, prototyping, and human-centered design--she would be an excellent additional resource for making sure that delivery methods are doing what they're supposed to, and bouncing ideas off/finding innovative ways around sticky spots.
Question list:
What are some prompts that are used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that users can take with them into any situation?
What kinds of questions do you ask your anxiety patients during initial visits? Where do those questions lead you, and how do you determine which therapies or coping strategies to use for which patients?
What are some realistic patient treatment goals, that we could use as milestones in an app or website format? (Similar to "levels" or achievements in gaming.)
